Publishing sends this product to your connected Square store so it's live and for sale. You stay in control — nothing goes to Square until you click Publish here.
What gets sent
- Its name and description
- Your photos — the Hero becomes Square's main image
- Each variant, with its price (and barcode, if it's a valid UPC)
A couple of things intentionally don't go to Square: your tags (those stay for your own organizing) and stock counts (we read your Square inventory but never change it).
Before you publish
The listing checklist (called Square preflight once you're connected) may show optional warnings — a soft photo, no weight set, a thin description. These won't stop you: publish anyway, or fix them first for a stronger listing.
Only blocking issues (marked ⛔) actually stop a publish — things like no Hero image or no price. The button will say Resolve issues to publish until those are cleared. (More on the warnings in What the image warnings mean.)
I changed something — why isn't it on Square yet?
Edits don't push automatically. Open the product and Re-publish to send your changes — the Changes to publish to Square panel lists exactly what will update (title, price, a new variant, reordered images, and so on). When everything's sent, the status reads Up to date.
The one exception is photos: replacing an image pushes the new version to Square automatically for products already live, so an updated photo replaces the old one on your storefront without a manual re-publish.
